Cousins

Some of you saw the pictures from our visit with the Ellis's but thought I would share a few and a few words of wisdom as well!

Klayton survived a 7 hour drive to Levelland. He actually did more than survive. He did excellent in the car. On the way up there we had what Aunt Mel decided to call a blow out. Not of the tire but of the diaper. I think Klayton may have eaten some of what was in the diaper. Ooops! Oh well maybe it will make him stronger. The weekend at Carrie and Richard's started with a tackle. Klayton has always been kind of shy or slow to get involved in too much commotion. He had finally worked up the courage to stand on the ottoman and Austin was so excited too play that he simply tackled Klayton from behind and when Klayton landed on his back and didn't really seem too excited about playing Austin climbed right over him. It was quite amusing. Then Austin moved on to more exciting things and Klayton was left with bribes from Aunt Mel of ice cream. Klayton finally aggreed and almost immediately tried to spit out the ice cream. I hope he grows out of that because goodness knows we eat enough ice cream around the house. The night ended with the three of us girls staying up really late talking about who knows what like only sisters and good friends can do. With the babies asleep it was nice to chat with no interruptions.

Saturday there was of course more playing and we think the 1st fight as both of the boys wanted to play with the ball. Again Aunt Mel was trying to play with both of the boys and there was a ton of toys but the ball was the most cherished. Here is a picture and we'll pretend they are sharing right?

There was of course some chasing around the house throughout the weekend.

But don't let Klayton fool you. He may look cute and innocent but I think he tried to close the dishwasher door on Austin.

Then to top the evening off we decided to go play bubbles. I think us girls had more fun than the boys but we couldn't resist. It looks like fun doesn't it?

Again, Klayton had a hard time adjusting to the company. Maybe he missed his daddy or maybe he's anti-social (I'll try not to jump to that conclusion just yet) or maybe he was a little fussy because last night he found tooth #6. Yes #6. That means that in one month he has gotten 6 teeth. I might be a little fussy myself. The last picture is him hiding under the table. No matter how fussy he is, everyone once in a while a moment just catches you and you have to smile.

Finally, I have a friend whose baby was born yesterday and now the baby is in the NICU. I can only imagine how scared she must be right now so we will say a few prayers and remember just how precious life is.

Eating

Klayton has a new fun way to enjoy food. Teeth! Yes, he finally has teeth. It took a while for the teeth to come in and now they are coming in like crazy. When we got back from Mexico he had one tooth that was just about showing. Now it is almost all the way in and the 2nd bottom tooth has appeared and the top tooth should be breaking the skin any day now. By looking in his mouth I swear he could have a full set in the next month but I am not a dentist and I thought he was going to have his 1st tooth at 3 months (I wasn't too good at detecting the signs of teething).

Our little guy has always enjoyed eating and everything has gone straight into his mouth since the time he was 5 months so table food has been a fun progression. Most of the time at night now he has something that we are eating. It ranges from beans to potatoes to peas or even his all time favorite, macaroni and cheese. He ate all of that before he had teeth I can't imagine what he is going to do now. He does have a few opinions about what he eats though. Maybe he just doesn't like the color orange (ha! ha!) but he does not like peaches or cantaloupe. He'll eat them out of a baby food jar but don't even think about trying them fresh. I even tried to sneak them in other foods and he will eat everything and then spit out the peach. Nice right! Bananas are another one of his favorites but that is about the only fruit he likes fresh so we still have to do some baby food. This picture is the lovely daily mess we clean up. Of course blueberries make the mess even more fun. Hey I said he likes to eat not that he was a neat eater. And don't even think about taking a paper towel to his face to clean him up. He screams like we are absolutely torturing him. Instead we take him to the faucet to wash his hands like a big boy. Hope we are not starting bad habits.

Last week he found a new trick with the highchair. He can lift the tray. That means that no food is safe and watch your fingers because if he bangs the tray down with your fingers (or worse his toes) under it, not a pretty sight. But he is very proud of himself and so are we. He always makes us smile.

Mexico

It's hard to believe it has been 3 weeks since we got back from Mexico and I am just now writing about it. Time flies! Anyway, Mexico was fun. I have never been on vacation with family where we did not have to worry about any cooking or cleaning so there was lots of time for relaxing, reading, and of course drinking. As most people have heard by now, there were a few sickly among us. Poor Diane (Dave's mom) got sick on Fri and spent the whole day indoors. Then on Sat Dad wasn't feeling very well. They both made it to the wedding Sat. night but they did not make it all the way through the reception. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselved and the bride and groom made a lovely couple. It was great to see them together and having so much fun. We are glad to have Dave in the family. Here are a few pics from the wedding day. Melinda made a very beautiful bride.

Father's Day

The last time I was writing it was actually Father's Day so I thought I would fill you in on a few pictures from the big day. We went to the golf course in the afternoon for the annual Father's Day Fish N Golf. It was a little warm but plenty of fish were caught and we were glad we got to spend the afternoon with Daddy.

Spending the afternoon with Daddy also meant Klayton got to enjoy a few rides on the big golf course machines. Klayton always looks at us like we are crazy when we take him to the golf course but once we started driving around he really has fun. I think it is the whole concept of "y'all are driving and I'm not in my carseat." I always think how big Klayton is getting and how he is growing up so fast. This picture really shows he is still a very little boy and that makes me smile.

Kevin had been saying for a while that he wanted a picture of Klayton and I for his office. So for Father's Day I tried to surprise him and I had a friend come take pictures of Klayton and me. I was able to keep it a surprise that we took the pictures (very difficult not to tell Kevin what we do in the afternoon, I guess I am kind of a talker :) ). Then the pictures came in the mail and guess who opened the mail. You got it. Kevin found his present a week early and in the mail. Not exactly the way I planned it but he like the pictures nonetheless so I thought I would share a few.
