New Nephew

More good news from the Wilson family. Little Tyler John Wilson is growing and doing wonderfully and mom, well, she is surviving and doing better than I would be doing that is for sure. This weekend Klayton and I made a quick trip to Houston to visit the new little one and along the way made a few stops with friends. I'm sure most of you have heard by now but I am not cut out for Houston traffic or size. I made a whirlwind trip across Houston and poor Klayton probably heard a few more "not so nice" words than what a two year old should hear but it was a great visit with Kristi and her mom, Ava and her 4th birthday party (great job Danna), and Kristen and her new house. The 2nd picture is Tyler under his light to help with his biluribin levels. He really is little and hard to believe that some babies are born even smaller. The latest news is that he is supposed to be moving out of ICU and into a "feed and grow" section until he gets a little bigger. Congrats again! I can't wait to hold him.

Birthday Celebration

This weekend was Melinda and Aunt Marla's birthday. Unfortunately we were not able to celebrate with Melinda in MD but we did get to enjoy the day with Aunt Marla. Sat. morning we headed north to Georgetown and gathered at Aunt Marla's house for some bar-b-que and football. Fortunately for Kevin, Aunt Marla gave him the remote as soon as we walked in the house so he enjoyed watching most of the football. It was also a great time visiting with Aunt Linda and Uncle Lary and of course always fun to watch Klayton giggling.

Klayton also got to help put the candles on the cake and even blow out the candles. Hopefully it will be good practice for him.

And yes, Kevin survived the triple overtime A&M game. But barely, I will let him provide more details. Like I said, we survived.

Sun morning we received a phone call saying Laura's (Kevin's sister) water had broke. She is only 31 weeks pregnant so this was a little unnerving. So needless to say she was in the hospital and they were doing lots of things. The did an ultrasound and said the baby weighed 3 lbs and her amniotic fluid level were still safe. So then they started magnesium to stop the contractions which made her horribly sick and gave her steroids to help the baby's lungs develop. She came off the magnesium on Tues and did well. Yesterday (Wednesday) she started having contractions again and the doctor decided it was time to take the baby. So Laura went in for a caesarean and little Tyler John was born at 5:15 p.m. He weighs 3 lbs, 12 oz is 17 in long and Laura was able to hold him right away when he was born. Obviously he is still very small but breathing well and will not have to be incubated so congrats to Laura and John (her husband). Laura is doing OK but she is exhausted so we will keep all of them in our prayers. Hopefully this weekend I will get to see the new baby and will have pictures to share.

Picnic Weekend

What a busy and fun 3 day weekend we had. 1st of all I can't remember the last time Kevin actually took off on a holiday so that tells you that things are going pretty well at the golf course which is great for him. Around our house fall is our favorite season for many reason and we tend to start counting fall as soon as football season starts, the days start getting shorter, and the golf course starts slowing down. All of those things have started to bring on fall.

The weekend started with a golf outing. I haven't played golf since before Klayton was born but nonetheless it was a fun Friday evening and I must say a great way to tire out a 2 year old. He ran up and down the fairways, around the greens, and even fell in a few bunkers but he had a great time and I enjoyed my golf lesson from Kevin.

Then Saturday we headed to Hallettsville. We were originally just going in to visit but when Robyn called on Friday evening with tickets to the A&M game on Sat., Dad and Jeanette thankfully took on babysitting duties. We really enjoyed our quick trip to College Station and the game turned out pretty good. The seats were great and the weather almost felt like fall (we were in the shade).

Sunday most of the day was spent at the church picnic. But 1st Kevin and I actually got to go to church and not chase around a 2 year old. Dad and Jeanette braved church on Sat night with the little one so we enjoyed the opportunity to attend church child-less on Sunday morning. Now back to the picnic, most of you know it is a huge deal in Hallettsville, but Kevin and I hadn't been in years. I knew, however, that Klayton would enjoy it so we ventured out. He was a little initimidated by the number of people and the noise (polka band) at 1st but it all turned out OK and he was able to jump in the bouncy house. I wasn't sure he was going to do this because at the beginning all he could say was "no, no" But he kept saying jump so I kep trying to put him back in the bouncy house. With much pointing and grunting I finally understood he wanted to go in the "big boy" bouncy house where the kids were jousting. Luckily the lady running the booth let us go in with just one other small girl and all was well.

Then Klayton went on a train ride with Ella and William. Again I wasn't too sure but thanks to Ella and Will (cousins) he did a great job.

Klayton even got to doing a little polka dancing with Grandpa.

Klayton's favorite part was the fishing pond. So we went back numerous times and all in all we had a great time. I'm sure there will be many more picnics to come.

To top the weekend off, we went to and A&M vs TX state volleyball game on Tues as well. Again a little too long for Klayton to sit still and a little past his bedtime but it was a great chance to at least say hi to Robyn.

It was a great football start, a great 3 day weekend, a great opportunity for new things for Klayton, and a great visit with family. Looking forward to many more off all of those things.
