Klayton Turns 2

Yes, he is now officially a 2 year old. I can't believe it. Or at least I can't believe it until I spend an hour or so with him and he quickly reminds me that he is a vibrant two year old boy with tons of energy, even more smiles, an ever growing imagination, a few moments of hard "headedness", and yes a few tantrums. I couldn't ask for anything more. So we decided to have a couple of small celebrations for Klayton's birthday as he is easily overwhelmed by people and surprises. What can I say he is a structured little boy. So on Wed (his actual birthday) we ventured out to Chuckie Cheese's, every kids dream (or nightmare depending on who you ask). We had only been one time before about a year ago and everything went pretty well so we planned a trip for his birthday and Grandma, Aunt Marla, Jennifer, Brandon, and Anneliese joined us for the fun. It started a little rough as I wasn't feeling well and Klayton had a runny nose and a cough as well. He was shy as usual at 1st and got really upset when Grandma walked away from the table, but went Chucky Cheese came out to say hi... Well let's just say it wasn't Klayton's favorite part of the day. Luckily after some cake and presents he was much more enthusiastic about all of it and we ended up having a great time. Here are a few highlights!

blowing out candles
eating cake

opening presents

a little playing

and back to the rides

Anneliese and Brandon got in on the action as well

Then on Saturday we had another small family party. Richard, Carrie, and Austin got into town on Friday so the boys got to celebrate their birthdays together. what fun! As they kiddos are only 2 we kept things pretty simple but did do a few activities outside. Jonathan and Julie and their 2 kids and Danna and Mark and their 2 kids and Grandma and Grandpa joined us.

The play-doh was a big hit.

And of course you can't have a birthday without cake and candles. Klayton has mastered blowing out the candles and he thought he needed to help Austin.

Austin was really funny to watch while eating the cake

Klayton was a little more concened about the icing but the next night when we ate another cake and Klayton started laughing at Austin for having icing on his face, we all got a big laugh. Kids!!!

Here everyone is joining in the fun as we open presents. Ava was very patient as the boys opened presents.

The boys also enjoyed some time with Grandpa and Grandma

And then Austin told us he had more "work to do" and the boys went back to playing.

It really was a great visit with the Ellis's. The kiddos are getting so big and are playing together more and more. We have so much to look forward to and we are so thankful for the time we get to spend together. Here's to another year of Klayton surprises!!
