vacation and gardening

I have been waiting to post pictures from our vacation until my sisters shared some of their pictures but they are being slow so I guess we will just share some of my "OK" pictures. Richard is the really picture taker in the family so I am sure he will have some great ones. Nonetheless, a couple of weeks ago we took vacation. Yeah!! Kevin and I along with Carried and Richard flew to MD to spend a week with the Rakes and do some sightseeing in DC. I'm not sure how we ended up choosing to go to MD in the middle of Feb where the high temperatures never got above 40 (last year we were crazy enough to brave the cold in Holland) but the visit went great. Of course there was plenty of time for margaritas and whatever else they (I know so sad for my pregnant self) could find but there was also lots of time for sightseeing. Kevin and I had never been before so it was all quite amazing. There is a lot of history there and Kevin being a history fan just loved it. I of course complained about the cold weather but there is something very touching about walking the Vietnam memorial in the snow and visiting Arlington National cemetery with melting snow around all the headstones. Pretty impressive stuff.

Of course it was also great to visit with Melind and Dave and see little DJ. They were great hosts and we are so glad to went to see them. We also got to see my cousin Krista and Robie and their little girl Caroline but once again no pictures. We had fun playing games and I'm sure causing a scene in the restaurant because you know we were perfectly quiet and never got loud at all :) Thanks family for a great vacation.

Last weekend we decided it was time for spring and got a few things ready in the garden. Yes I know it is only a small garden but it is fun to have a few fresh vegetables. Of course Klayton wanted right in the middle of the action. He was a little afraid of the small tiller that Kevin brought home but by the end of it he wanted to help so all was good.

OK I started this blog like 2 weeks ago. In the meantime Klayton has gotten sick (sores in his mouth and not eating yuck), the blogger website has been down, I have had a crazy work week and now our camera is not working. So the great pictures that I took of Klayton playing in the garden will have to wait for another blog or they may be lost forever.

This weekend is the 1st camping trip of the year so hopefully the camera will be working again and all will be well.
