1st Camping Trip of the Season

Ok in theme with my last post...I guess winter is not quite over. Despite the weather warnings we decided to head to Lake Sommerville last weekend. Well the weathermen were right and when the rain blew in, it came with a fury and left behind cold gusty winds. Our tent stayed dry and Kenzie stayed mostly dry but other than that we were pretty wet. So we ran to town to dry clothes and pass time. After that we stayed close to the the fire and out of the wind and we did OK. Then the sun set and temperatures dropped even farther. A space heater in the tent did little to keep us warm so we relied on body heat (all 4 of us on a full saize air mattress) and lot sof layers for clothes. The next morning we decided to skip cooking and opt for breakfast on the road because the cold temperatures and wind were a little more than we could stand any longer. So we learned that 35 degrees and 20 mph winds were a little more than we can handle. But the important thing is we had a good time and enjoyed the conversation around the fire and we made more memories that especially Klayton will cherish. Tammy and James and Jillian braved the cold adn were a great family to share the adventure with. Here is the proof in picutres that we survived.

There is one pciture of the evening in the boat before the rain blew in. After that there was no way we were getting on the water.

Great! You were able to save the pictures to your computer. They turned out great. It was fun but I think next time we will listen to the weathermen!
