Klayton turns 6

In usual Chance fashion, we celebrated on multiple occasions. Klayton's only request for his birthday party was that Anneliese and Austin were there. In order to make that happen, we scheduled a party around a UT football game. This years theme was camping so of course we started with some tents in the backyard.

Then we kind of stretched our imagination and had Klayton and Austin's first ever BB gun shooting. It was exciting for the kids and the big boys turned into kids.

pure concentration. Even Kenzie took a turn and I think by the end Klayton hit 2 cans in a row.
Then we ventured out for a night hike. Of course our little scaredy cat was the most scared but they all ended up walking around the "bumpy road circle." Kevin even hid from them in the dark and Klayton was definitely scared but later admitted that it was fun.

Then it was time for cake. I am not as good at the cake decorating as my sister but Klayton still enjoyed it and it did look like a tent so there we go.

Kevin was going to be out of town on Klayton's actual birthday so again we celebrated a day early. Aunt Marla took us all to a great brunch where the birthday boy enjoyed pancakes and couldn't wait to put on his new Dallas Cowboy shirt. Then that evening we gave him a choice of spaghetti or Pluckers for supper. He chose Pluckers and we all enjoyed some wings (including the kiddos) but Klayton's favorite part was definitely everybody singing to him.

Isn't he a big boy.

Dear Klayton,
you are such a special little boy. Really I think sometimes you are a 30 year old in a 6 year old body. You always want to be with the adults and you always want to be helping. You will help vacuum, you will help Dad paint or mow the lawn, and you definitely help Kenzie. Of course you are still 6 so when you do something to misbehave, like a normal 6 year old, I am shocked. And all I have to do is talk to you and you are sad that you have disappointed me. Of course you are a bundle of energy as well. From golf to basketball to just riding your bike, you love to be outside. Since you started school you have started liking coloring and your reading is coming along. I am a little afraid you might be a perfectionist because if you mess up on anything, you are ready to move on to something else. I can't wait to see how helpful you are with Konnor and you are really ready for his arrival. I love you dearly and know the next year will bring even more fun times.
