I promise that I am not playing favorites.
I promise that I offered Klayton a birthday party.
I promise that I gave him just as many presents as Kenzie.
I promise that birthday's are a big deal at our house.
The pictures do not prove it, but I PROMISE!!!!
So I'll just say that Klayton didn't want a party and we did lots of little things to spread out his birthday and he had a great month.
First we made a trip to Austin to watch the Texas A&M game vs Alabama game with some friends. Klayton was totally happy playing football all day despite the outcome of the game.
The next weekend we spent the weekend at Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop. Kevin is buddies with the golf course superintendent there so we have been saying for a couple of years that we should go, and finally we did it. The place is pretty cool with lots to do and a great way to spend the weekend with the cousins. We roasted marshmallows, rode bikes, went on a horse drawn carriage, played more football, ate pretty good food, and of course did lots of swimming.
Then on the actual day of his birthday we cooked his meal of choice and cake of choice. And by we I mean Grandma did it. He chose enchiladas and pear crumble and those are Grandma's specialties so she was called upon.
Klayton is still a sweet boy who knows and follows rules. He does push the limits some times but I think it is because he has always acted like a grown up and let's face it, us adults push the limits on politeness. He is still totally into football. Watching, playing, reading, whatever. Of course he is becoming more independent with his homework and keeping his room clean and all those things that make mommy happy. He is very protective and helpful with his little brother. And just like always, if dad is doing it then he wants right in the middle of it. I love my big boy. He is such a special person.
